Industrial, Electronic and Mechanical Engineering
The Department of Industrial, Electronic and Mechanical Engineering (DIIEM) of Roma Tre University has been selected among the 180 Departments of Excellence of the Italian university system for the five-year period 2023–2027. It aims to be a reference centre within the University in the core fields of Industrial Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Applied Sciences, combining in a synergistic way human and instrumental resources to contribute to the sustainable development of contemporary society. The Department’s course catalogue includes three Bachelor’s Degree Programs in Biomedical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Management Engineering (newly activated starting from the academic year 2025/2026) and Mechanical Engineering (which features two curricula: Mechanical Engineering taught at the Rome campus and Marine Technologies taught at the Ostia campus). Students interested in the Marine Technologies curriculum must enrol in the Bachelor’s Degree Program in Mechanical Engineering and subsequently choose the Marine Technologies pathway. Teaching activities at both locations are held in modern, well-equipped spaces; the Ostia Campus was fully renovated and modernized in 2024. The Bachelor’s degree programs naturally continue into various Master’s degrees: Biomedical Engineering, Telecommunication Engineering, Electronic Engineering for Industry and Innovation, Mechanical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering for Marine Resources. Starting from the 2024/2025 academic year, an interuniversity single-cycle Master’s degree program in Medicine and Surgery with a Technological Focus (Medicina e Chirurgia a indirizzo tecnologico) is active with the administrative headquarters at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore (Unicatt). This program is developed in collaboration with the course of study of Medicine of Unicatt and the Department of Industrial, Electronic and Mechanical Engineering of Roma Tre University. Upon completion, graduates in Medicine and Surgery with a Technological Focus may also obtain a Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering from our Department by acquiring an additional 30 ECTS credits, enhancing the competencies gained. As part of its career orientation initiatives, the Department organizes the Career Day twice a year—an event that connects students with the business world.
