The main steps international students have to comply with, for admission to first and second cycle degree courses are as follows:
Non-EU citizens residing abroad
- make sure whether is needed to require a visa through the website of theMinistry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation
- if a study visa is needed, apply for pre-enrolment through Universitaly portal by registration on the following link

- Additional documents:
- within eight days since the arrival in Italy, you will have to apply for a residence permit valid for university enrolment to the police office (Questura)
- a fiscal code issued by the “Agenzia delle Entrate” or by the Italian Diplomatic representation in your country of residence
- for degree courses with restricted access, check in the calls for admission, the places reserved for non-Eu citizens living abroad and Chinese citizens participating in the Marco Polo programme
- create an account on Gomp platform submitting all the documents requested and the application for admission in accordance with the instructions on how to submit application for admission exam (Italian version)

EU citizens or non-EU citizens legally residing in Italy
- the admission conditions of European or non-European citizens holding a residence permit are the same as for an Italian student, there isn’t any Italian proficiency test to pass and there aren’t any setting quotas for admissions
- carefully read the call for admission for the chosen degree programme so as to know whether they are with access restriction or with open access, an admission test is usually required whether to assess basic knowledge (compulsory and non-selective) or to select the admission (compulsory and selective): adapted shortened versions in English of the official calls for admission
- create an account on Gomp platform submitting all the documents requested and the application for admission in accordance with the instructions on how to submit application for admission exam (Italian version)
